Christine Meister Tokimatsu is a native English speaker based in Kitakyushu, Japan. In her twelve years in the country, she has taught corporate English classes to engineers, earned Master’s degrees from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University and the Institute of Applied Sciences Trier, worked in environmental nonprofit organisations, and attained Level 2 on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. She uses her background in environmental engineering and sustainable tourism to help Asian clients spread their expertise and love of their communities to a wider English-speaking audience. She also draws on her own personal experiences and difficulties in learning the Japanese language to help students who wish to increase their confidence in English communication. She is also a regular commentator on the Kitakyu-Woman Project, a weekly Japanese-language webcast celebrating the accomplishments of women citizens of Kitakyushu.
